Does BT do this on purpose. Broadband Speed?

Hi All,
Long story short. I have had a few weeks of awful internet speed. I am paying regularly for 70mb[s package. I totally understand that I should never expect to get 100% of the advertised but I've had weeks of intermitant drops in speed where the internet was as slow as 16mbps download and 18mbps upload. I think from a screenshot point of view my worst result must have been 7.5Mbps download with 13.5Mbps upload.
Following many phonecalls to BT an engineer is coming tomorrow to have a look at all of this. I did a speedtest right now and I am "Magically" getting 70Mbps download 30Mbps upload.
Isn't this ironic? Where is the consistency? Why can't I get this speed all of the time, but suddenly right before the arrival of the engineer everything seems to be absolutely fine??

Multiple reasons why speed can drop .
Measurement at the router or over WiFi cable only .
The usual reason is users internal wiring .
Possible problem in the copper cable to your house .
Router shows up time and Event Log > WAN shows dropouts .
Be aware that Open Reach charge for all problems past the master socket circa £130- £175 .0 -

Impossible to say . Hope you did all the usual checks b4 you had an engineer out.0 -

Yeah I would ring them on regular basis. We would go through the usual array of "How is your computer connected?". And they would tell me every time without fail that it is nothing to do with their setup its something in the house.
Ironically, a day before the arrival of the engineer, my internet seems to be exactly the way that it should have been, but what is there to say that come a week from now, the internet speed will be as relaiable as it is in this moment in time?0 -

I meant had you eliminated the internal wiring (master socket/test socket connection) quiet line test and line fault tests for the line etc.
They ought to be able to see the speed/drops in the line data at least0
