  • Sounds like a great day and glad you and your neighbour got on so well. It’s great when you just click with someone, funny how people come into your life at just the right time. Sounds like good times ahead for you both.

Have you watched the Handmaids tale? A colleague at work recommended it to me and I can’t stop watching it......I’d recommend it, especially on such a wet and windy weekend that we’ve got ahead.

Hope pooch gets on at the groomers, I’m sure he will do you proud and be a good boy!: :T

Hi Maryland - I've watched the first series of Handmaids Tale but not the most recent one. I did enjoy it - can see why you're into it :)

Had a fairly early night last night but didn't sleep really well, maybe due to the wine I had during the evening? Never mind - it's a new day now.
Nothing wildly exciting planned for today yet - I need to do some dog walking, will see how my back feels and maybe do a little test run, go to Aldi for a few groceries (not Tesco! Economising....) and give the bathrooms a good clean. Thats the morning taken care of so I might go the cinema this afternoon using some free tickets I have - just watched the trailer for Blinded by the Light and it looks quite good. It's had quite good reviews and is supposed to be the feel good film of the year so that can't be a bad thing :)

It's actually dry at the moment so will get the dog out for a walk......

Been to the cinema - the film was ok, I wouldn't rave about it it but it was perfectly watchable. A bit like a musical East is East. Cost me the grand total of nothing too :) Used one of my free cinema tickets from the bank that I've had for months and months, took a can of diet coke and a 29p bag of sweets from Aldi. Last of the big spenders ;)
    £11.50 a ticket - daylight robbery!!!

Talking about Aldi, I spent £15 this morning on fruit and veg, a few store cupboard things, bread and milk and some cleaning bits and toilet roll. Was actually quite impressed with what I got for the money. Will go again.
I forgot to get deodorant and soap but will pick that up in the local shop when I'm passing.

Have also managed to have an argument by text with XOH. Have told him to leave me alone after initially engaging with him but then realising that all it served to do was upset and annoy me.

Going to stay in this evening with pup (who is currently emptying his toy box over the living room floor - everything is having a play with this evening) and watch some Netflix or catch up telly. Actually quite looking forward to bed - didn't sleep really well last night and feel tired. No point in going too early though as I'll be awake by 2am otherwise - I'm a rubbish sleeper.

I have puppy school to look forward to tomorrow afternoon (providing the weather is ok) and will do a run finally.
    Right, telly here I come......
  • Hope you sleep well tonight and have a relaxing Sunday. Fingers crossed the weather is good, too. Haha.
  • Delurking to say good luck with your future plans. I'm 49 and worked in my field 30+ years in a variety of roles. I've been funded to complete my MSc for the next 3 years.. It will give me promotion and another sidestep in my working life. It will probably mean I will work past 55 to make financial sense of it all... After a week of hoping my age won't hamper me your post made me smile and remind myself to not limit myself through fear of the unknown and embrace the change.

Well, guess what Alicia..... It's raining!
Slept fairly well but woke up at 5.30 again - my brain and body haven't realised that I'm not working! Been pottering about ever since.

Just waiting for the rain to ease off a bit before walking the dog - then if it looks dry I'll do a little run (didn't get round to that yesterday). Need to do a couple of loads of laundry today and get the pooch to puppy school after lunch (hopefully it will have stopped raining by then as its outside). Other than that no big plans today. I'll have a look at my list of summer jobs to do and see if there's anything I feel like doing today. Getting fed up of the rain and poor weather now......

Hello!! Thank you for your lovely post. Good luck with your MSc - I'm sure you'll be brilliant at it.
    We're in our prime!!
  • Hi MT hope you’re having a productive day, I love a list! Well ticking things off the list more!!

I’ve just taken a friends dogs out a lovely long walk as she’s out for the day, it was lovely to be out in the fresh air with them, and thankfully the rain stayed away. One of them is a miniature labradoodle and the other is a cockerpoo, they are both gorgeous but Teddy the cockerpoo has stolen my heart! I can’t wait til I get my own dog, but in the mean time I get to walk them and it’s bliss!

Hope puppy training class went well. Have a good week next week.

I hope you've got better weather than us. It's only stopped raining to pour with rain or spit with rain. Everyone is on river-watch and the banks have already burst into the floodplain in the parks.

Dog keeps looking out hopefully but he'll be lucky if he gets more than a potter round the streets at this rate.

And speaking from the other side of 50, dive in the water's great - no pun intended!

Thanks Maryland and Joey! The rain did ease and we managed a couple of walks and puppy school.
Maryland - get a dog, you won't regret it.
Joey - I think I'm entering a new phase of life - thank you for the reassurance that my age isn't an issue!

Big surprise at puppy school - my woofer's sister from the same litter was there! By complete coincidence, the owners had picked the same group and when we arrived I started talking to them as the dogs looked so similar - a few minutes on and we discovered that they were brother and sister. They clearly knew it before we did!! Both were going bonkers :):)
Small world eh? The breeder lives a good 45 mins away from where we live.

Faffed about this afternoon when we got back and did a bit of cleaning and another short walk but other than that not much to report. XOH has been in touch, desperate for me to change my mind but when I asked a few things about the future and stated things that would be non-negotiable he backed off.
    Not really surprised.

Anyway, just waiting for a takeaway to arrive (using a 50% off voucher meaning it only cost £5) - had a bit of a difficult day emotionally and so deserve a little treat. Diet and economising resumes tomorrow ;)
