Extortionate O2 Bill - please help

I was on holiday in Egypt the last week in October, when my Dad who had Leukaemia, was rushed into Intensive Care and passed away the same night.

Apart from the fact my insurance (Fortis thru Alliance and Leicester current account - be warned!) refused to pay for me to fly home as my Dad was already ill when I left - he wasn't in hospital or anything, it was very sudden but they still wouldn't pay. Of course I had to use my phone which I never usually do abroad, except the odd text, to try and get home some other way. I didn't even use it that much but I've been billed £13 for one 8min call by O2! The other amounts stack up being charged £1.70 for 2 seconds and other ridiculous amounts.
THE BILL IS £175.00!!!!    I normally pay £20.00 a month.

I've complained to O2 but can anyone tell me where I go for help if they won't change it. I can't afford £175.00

I don't think they will budge on this - whatever the circumstances. I've had a similarly large bill in the past due to family circumstances and still had to pay.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

    Thanks Sagaris
  • If you call and explain they will hold some of the money until next month, so you could maybe pay half now and half later..

Im sorry to say that what ever the circumstances and my heart goes out to you, it would be worth ringing 02 explaining the situation, and that you are willing to pay the bill, but say that your not in position to pay in one go, they have the flexibility let you pay over 2 months.

Are you still tied into a contract with them, if not its worth considering pay and go, theres really good offers out there on most networks.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Explain? Up until our fraudulent adventures with signatures, dead Daddy was getting demands for money. Being dead isn't really an excuse. Or at least that's our experience. Computers don't understand circumstances. CS hear the words but computer says' no.

My reply wasn't to you it was to the OP. I got the impression the phone bill is in their own name so this will work fine.

  • I'm off out mate but I'll get you some advice through the week. A close friend of mine buys quite a lot of cell phones from o2 so perhaps he can offer you advice.

Send a nice e-mail to Peter Erskine's team at O2

He is the CEO of O2 and his team may be able to waive or reduce the bill a little for you.

Sorry to hear about your dad.
