Rubbing alcohol alternative for picture hanging?

I've got some of those picture hanging strips I want to test out, and the instructions say to clean the back of the frame first with rubbing alcohol.
Dr google tells me the UK alternative is surgical spirits which I don't have to hand and don't particularly want to buy for a one off use.
Are there any other suitable alternatives - the instructions warn against household cleansers.
Thanks

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Nail varnish remover? Might take the surface off the frame though0

Personally have never done this with the 3M strips, are yours another brand?

Nail varnish remover is usually acetone.
You could try alcohol-based hand sanitiser gel.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Was hoping for something I might already have in.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Meths should work well too if you have any (as fuel for a camping stove, or to clean brushes after using some types of paint).0

Command strips, but read it wrong - it's the wall that needs wiping.
"Wipe wall with rubbing alcohol. Do not use household cleaners or water."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

You might as well clean both surfaces I'd have thought, especially for something like picture hanging where you want it to stay put for a long time.0
