Thanks, for me I am not worried to much about the actually number but just worried about potential issue this might cause with mortgage offer. hopefully will all be fine.0 -
This is incredibly common, the mortgage companies will be used to it.
Just noticed going through old paperwork for our house, the plot number was 1 higher than our house number. I think the developer had hoped to squeeze another house in but was refused.Make £2026 in 2026

Yes you will be fine. However.
Make sure you check the electric/gas meter on the stuff you get from the supplier actually matches up to yours (that you have checked the serial of by hand).
At least it's not a flat, flats do this all the time and take 10 years to get a proper bill sorted out by which time you have probably paid someone else's bill so much that there is no refunds and it's onlt the new tennat that sorts it out.0 -
Probably due to lack of number 13!Just noticed going through old paperwork for our house, the plot number was 1 higher than our house number. I think the developer had hoped to squeeze another house in but was refused.
Plot 1- Plot 12 plot numbers and door numbers match, then Plot 13= Door 14 and so on...I am a mortgage broker. That's reassuring to know this is common, and should hopefully be fine with the Mortgage offer we already have.0 -
This happened to us on our new build house a few weeks before we completed. Our side of the street is made up of a number of private shared driveways on one side. Originally the access to our house was off one driveway but then they change the layout slightly after the council had allocated house numbers and the access to our house was then off a different one. Originally we should have been 33 but with the change in layout it would be accessed off the driveway between numbers 39 and 45. It wasn't until after our mortgage offer I realised the inconsisted numbering and how this could be a problem for emergency services/deliveries etc.
The developer therefore had to apply to the council to have the numbering changed. They wanted to make us 39A but we refused and insisted on ours being 41 and them changing the house next door (which still hadn't been reserved) to 41A.
It took a couple of weeks for the numbering to be officially changed but we were told we could start using the new number straightaway as well as the old number. So we were number 33 and 41 for a while! We just had a sign up on the front door with both numbers for about 6 months (i.e. No. 41 (formerly No. 33)).
Our solicitor changed the paperwork to 41 but the mortgage offer remained as 33. It wasn't an issue and all our lender needed was evidence of our new house number in the form of our first council tax bill. They had to wait a few months for this but because the postie knew we were using two numbers we still recieved all post that was sent to number 33 (no. 33 no longer exists - it has been removed from the Royal Mail database).
In the three years we have been here we have rarely received post for number 41A.0 -
Doesn't really make sense. The LR doesn't dictate what anybody's postal address is.its something to do with using an old Land Registry
It's up to your solicitor whether it's fine, and they've already told you it is.That's reassuring to know this is common, and should hopefully be fine with the Mortgage offer we already have.0 -
If you really don't like being 58A just give your house a name and use that. One of my neighbours did that ( named their house) as soon as they moved into it , a new build. They've now moved out and the name has gone and back to a number.0

And be the bane of courier/parcel/delivery companies constantly phoning you asking what door number you are0 -

Our street doesn't have a 13, but we're below 13 where your theory falls down, but the ones 14 and upwards would be correct! My neighbour who bought from the developer 40+ years ago remembers that the intended number 1 got rejected.Make £2026 in 2026
