So I was in Aldi paying with Amex and buy mistake touched for contactless even though it was £53 odd.
I quickly went to insert the card but the cs said it had gone through.
Have I missed something, I thought contactless limit was £30?

I once accidentally used contactless on an AMEX card for something over £30 as I did it without thinking - it went through but as signature required so I had to sign the receipt.0

Basically if you said that it was fraud - in this case ALDI would be wholly responsible for the loss and not AMEX.0 -

American Express website says the limit is as you say £30 so Im unsure how you can pay if the shopping was £53, maybe ask Amex tomorow.0 -
Either it has gone through and it will appear on your statement or it hasn't really gone through and you are laughing. Suggest you do nothing and contact nobody.0

Was it via ApplePay or with the physical card?0

Live chat said that because I had shopped with the merchant before their algorithm approved the contactless transaction to 'avoid embarrassment'.
Personally I would prefer the 'embarrassment' of being told I needed to use chip and pin over the risk of the card being used for £55 transactions on contactless but apparently that is not an option....:eek:I think....0 -
Thanks for letting us know I had not heard of this before0
