Question about driving licence name change

A few years ago I dropped my first name on my passport and I just go by what it was my middle name. I had a first name and middle name.
I forgot to update dvla because I don't even drive.
Now the time has come that I need to renew my licence but the licence won't match anymore my passport since now I only have one forename instead of the two.
As I said, I don't have a car or drive. I could just return the licence but it's useful to keep it as a photo ID when need it.
I'm just worry they will fine me because I didn't tell them when I updated my passport even if it was just a middle name.
will they fine me ?

Are you just over thinking it all? Your name is your name, as long as you are not on the fiddle, then nothing to worry about.0

Just because you are 2nd guessing, doesn't mean I'm going to agree, as said 1st time, as long as you are not on the fiddle then you have nowt to worry about.0 -

It's not about being right and someone wrong, your name is your name and as long as you are not set out to deceive then there is nothing to worry about, I can't see where a fine comes into it.0 -

because as far as I understand, if you change your name or address you are supposed to tell them. It's a legal document after all.
and I read something about £1000 fine0 -

And you would have also read that as long as you are not trying to deceive then you have nothing to worry about, so you can understand what you wish, but the rules are set already and only those trying to test a loophole will get financially penalised, what you do beyond that is up to you.0 -

well, I'm not trying to deceive anyone, that's for sure. I only forgot to update them0 -

You haven't really changed your name, just stopped using your first name.0 -

true but I still need to change it with dvla because I tried online to renew my driving licence with only one forename and it won't accept it because it's not the full name they have. And if I was to try with both names it won't match what's on my passport0
