Three - new SIM only when already existing customer - keep number?
Hi
I'm a long standing Three SIM only customer.
They have good Topcashback deals on for new SIM only contracts which will reduce my monthly outgoings.
If I take one out and then cancel my existing contract, will I be able to keep my existing mobile number? I know you can "PAC" it to other providers, but in this case it will be the same provider, Three. Can this be done?
Crucial I keep this number as it's linked to bank accounts etc.
Many thx in advance.

Can't you just contact them and say I want this deal?0

I don't think Three allow this, but you can but ask.
If not, you'd have to port to another networks payg and then port back in after taking out the new Three contract. That the normal way of getting round this. . .0 -
Thanks for the helpful replies.
WorriedJim - it's not so much the deal, it's similar in cost, but it's the cashback which makes the difference (plus larger call allowances). I can't see Three going for it, but I suppose if you don't ask you don't get. Let's see...0 -
I believe some networks allow you to move your PAYG number (with them) to a separate new contract. I seem to remember seeing this option on the Three app, but as so often happens I can't get it to work right now in order to check. If it is possible, in theory you could cancel your current contract, converting it to PAYG, then start your new contract and move the number over.Evolution, not revolution0

Thank you very much eDicky, you are absolutely right. I rang and checked with Three and it is possible to do this.
So I gave the 30 days notice and at end of that the existing number converts to PAYG and then you can ring up and get that number switched to your new contract with Three.
In case anyone else is thinking about doing the same....
I asked if they could match the cashback offer to lower the overall monthly subscription but as suspected they can't. So it's a bit of faffing but in my opinion worth it as it gives me now a better deal: unlimited mins, 8GB (all the benefits of Three Advanced Plan - hotspot, Go Roam, Easyjet benefits etc) for equivalent of just over £6 pcm after the cashback.0 -
Three may be about to increase their prices, the “unlimited data” SIM at £20/month has a count down clock on the offer, currently showing just over 4 days left. I am on that SIM and mine has increased to £20.50 per month.
Previously SIM only prices weren’t subject to annual RPI increases... sadly Three are now like the rest.0
