Issue with shared front garden

Whatever you do, do not tell them that you keep Bird eating, Black Widow & Funnel Web spiders in your flat, they might move.:rotfl:I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0

I wouldn't mind, none of the trees or plants in there were actually 'mine', they were already there when we (both) bought the house. How about you jointly remove everything between the two of you & put down astro turf which they can pay for.
What I told them (after I read the message saying 'sorry, you haven't responded in time, too late now, all gone') is that I would have liked to have a plan or an agreement on what to do next, because it's relatively easy to cut everything off, but it's going to be much more complicated to agree on how to make the garden look nice again, in terms of time and money.
So I said, you don't like the garden because it attracts unicorns? Then let's agree on what to do next NOW, not THEN. Their response was 'we'll discuss that in the near future'.0 -
The shape of the house doesn't help to be honest. These are two converted flats and the original garden has also been divided between the two properties. So basically one of their windows faces our garden.Whatever you do, do not tell them that you keep Bird eating, Black Widow & Funnel Web spiders in your flat, they might move.:rotfl:
I am planning a trip to the garden centre tomorrow to buy as many yellow flowers as I can.0 -
Sorry if I misread an earlier post arciere, but are your neighbours dictating what you can and cannot have in your own garden at the back of the house or just the front?
It does sound worrying that they are making demand after demand on you and because you come across as relaxed about their requests, assume you will do what they want. Be careful otherwise they might just do other things without consulting you because they think you will 'fall in line'.
I'm not trying to start a neighbourly dispute but you might need to Be a little more firm with them in the near future.May you find your sister soon Helli.
Sleep well.0 -
No it's just the front garden. I know we've probably been too relaxed, but we bought the flats together (the previous owners were brothers and decided to move at the same time), so in a way we both went through the same problems with the agency, solicitors and previous owners. I was hoping that we could have a more 'friendly' relationship (and that seemed to have worked to a point), but apparently it's no longer working.Sorry if I misread an earlier post arciere, but are your neighbours dictating what you can and cannot have in your own garden at the back of the house or just the front?

The lady sent me a long message this morning asking us to 'drop the case', giving me some non-sense excuses and saying that next time they will 'email us in advance to avoid misunderstandings'. I texted back trying to explain that I would like to discuss in person rather than emails, and that what happened yesterday rather than a request was like they had already decided what to do and we only had to say yes. She's completely ignored my message.0 -
1st spiders in the front garden, next you wont be able to walk up the stairs because they creak, have your TV on because its too loud. Do your own gardening because they dont like the view
This could be the start of a very unfortunate relationship. Just keep aware of how unreasonable they have behaved this week & bare it in mind should anything crop up in future.
They sound a little odd0 -
Oh no, she did complain about our walking because she said is too loud. We do our best not to make noise when we walk (we never have loud music or tv anyway and we are pretty much always in bed by 11pm) but there isn't much we can do about the house.HampshireH wrote: »1st spiders in the front garden, next you wont be able to walk up the stairs because they creak, have your TV on because its too loud. I replied telling her that we can also hear her screaming at night and that keeps us awake until she's done. So the fact that she can't be bothered to talk to us in person and prefers emails instead, kind of makes me think she wants to avoid us all together.
So yeah, I know there is more than just the spiders and the garden, but I was hoping that, after all, we could manage.0 -

I suggest building as many if these as you can fit in your garden ☺️
