Whilst using my DM's laptop this morning I noticed that Adblock
Plus wasn't working. It turns out that Firefox has disabled both Adblock and Avast as their certificates cannot be trusted.

The laptop is running W7 still which I suspect may be the problem.

Would that be the case?

Thanks.

Nope just happened to me on todays Win 10 update.
    All over the web.

"We're sorry that there is currently an issue where existing and new add-ons are failing to run or be installed on Firefox," a Mozilla spokesperson said. "We know what the issue is and are working hard to restore add-on functionality to Firefox as soon as possible."
"We'll continue to provide updates via our Twitter channels. Please bear with us while we get the problem fixed," the browser maker said.

The moral of the story: Disable the forced auto updates so that extesnsion coders can get a chance to verify compatibility. I dislike firefox quantum browser and do not use it except in vary rare circumstances. They seriously broke FF for me with their move to web extensions.

Water under the bridge now, but it wasn't just Firefox Quantum. Pale Moon was also affected, and that's from a pre-Quantum fork.
