Extended London stay...

Have a distant relative that wants to come to London for a minimum 3 months max 4/5 months over summer. He has a budget of £1000/month and is happy to stay in Zone 5/6 of north London to keep costs down.
Officially renting is hard as you need to stay for the minimum AST of 6 months. Bed sits and room shares are out because of lack of privacy etc. Hotels/bed&Breakfast too expensive.
Anyone have any ideas that I can pass on?
Thanks

Some places in zone 5/6 (Berrylands, Surbiton, Thames Ditton, Kingston or the other way, Wallington, Hackbridge...depends where they need to get to in London) have annexes that landlords rent out, maybe try those?0

That's not correct.
You can agree an AST for less than 6 months - but landlords often don't like the hassle and costs of short tenancies, plus the inability to evict.
But you might find a landlord who specifically wants a 3 or 4 month tenancy - to fill a 'gap'.0 -
