I'll be honest I've googled and nearly cried, I'm not even sure my desktop Acer Aspire XC-330 computer has a CD drive, in the 'This PC' folder there's a CD drive like icon with the following 'CD Drive (F:) WD SmartWare 0 bytes free of 442MB UDF'
I have right clicked and pressed eject but it comes up with an error occured while ejecting. there looks to be a little CD door (don't laugh) on the front of my PC but no open close button to be seen which makes me think I've not got a CD drive!
Please help an old girl out, even if it's just to say I'm stupid and there's no drive there even though it looks to be there. thanks in advance

Hi , if its this one ..
Then the red arrow points to the eject button , and if that button doesnt work, then unwind a paperclip, and push it into the hole indicated by the blue arrow and that should eject the drive.0 -
Thank you but having inspected thoroughly I can safely say there is nothing, not even the tiny holeKate

Take the side panel off the base unit, and look inside.
Is there a rectangular metal box behind the CD drive drawer area indicated in the picture above? If so, you may well have a CD drive
Does the drawer area have an embossed CD-ROM, CD-RW or DVD symbol upon it?0 -
There's no embossed symbols or any sign of a CD drive anywhere, I just got curious when I saw the drive in the folder and then noticed the CD door like thing on the front! I may get curious and take it apart if I really need the CD drive but with my clumsy ways I may be best leaving it and just looking at it wondering about it! Thank you for your replies.Kate

You do have a DVD drive.
All Acer Aspire XC-330 are supplied with them. You are just clicking on the wrong icon. That icon is probably linked to an external Western Digital HDD that you have connected to your PC. Disconnect it and check again.0 -
CD Drive (F WD SmartWare 0 bytes free of 442MB UDF'
I'm guessing you have an external USB drive or similar plugged in0 -

Why you so slow?0 -
Also the fact that your external HDD is marked with the F letter, tells us that you have a C, D & E
E is likely your DVD Drive. C and D may be partitions on your HDD.0
