Monkey Forest is a bit of an experience. The macaque monkeys are cheeky, and it's best NOT to go around eating, coz they'll want it off you.....and they'll have it
I'd avoid the two main southern resorts of Kuta and Legian though. Far too boisterous, and too many low quality hedonistic types.
Yeah that's it Monkey Forest :rotfl: I went prepared with my hiking pole, if they so much as looked at me I just banged the pole on the ground & they ran. Of course MrD started messing (I warned him not to) with one of them whilst I was in the bog, a jealous baby bit him. On the way back to the hotel the monkeys lay in wait on the top of the fence, there was fight & the monkey lost. The fight was over the carrier bag in MrD's hand.0 -
My niece went for her honeymoon and was mindful of the Zika virus risk.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Went by speedboat to Bako National Park in Borneo a few years ago....had to paddle the last few yards despite having only just passed a crocodile zonking on a sandbank.
It was early morning and we'd taken a packed breakfast for yomping on the hoof.
Big mistake....got spotted by a troop of nasty and hungry macaques. They surrounded me and the Mrs...no politeness...they knew that we knew what they wanted, and we knew that they knew that it was them who were going to have it....no contest....chucked our food their way....off they went, and off we went in the opposite direction, hungry but rabies free!0 -
I always recommend that people in Indonesia with sufficient time should look at taking an internal flight to Labuan Bajo and using that as a base for a couple of days to go and see the Komodo Dragons. They're pretty special.0

We honeymooned in Bali and Lombok nearly 30 years ago.
We've been back to Bali a few times even after a mate was killed in the Bali bombing.
But my missus doesn't want to go again anymore.
Even though it's more touristy or was then, Bali is better than Lombok except for the snorkelling. Lombok did have a very horsey smell at that time.
See if you can see the 'green flash' from the beach at Legian at sunset.
Just re reading the OP post and it seems Bali isn't finalised.
Maybe consider other destinations.
Malaysia is great.
Actually Australia, Adelaide, or Perth - Margaret River, is good too if you are traveling all that way from UK then and extra 5 to 7 hours isn't a lot.
Even HK or Singapore shouldn't be ruled out.
Bali is imo just beach and a drive up to Ubud, the artists there and the rice terraces on the way. And the beaches aren't that great so the hotel pool calls. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
My wife and I are going in October. 4 nights in Ubud Kayon Jungle Resort , 5 nights in Nusa Dua Laguna, Luxury Collection followed by 2 in Singapore Holiday Inn and 1 night at Marina Bay Sands. Cant wait.0

Do tourists coming from the UK require vaccinations etc?
Familiarise yourself with recommended vaccinations and then seek your GP's advice.

And the NHS website...

Personally I wouldn't trust a GP about Travel Abroad, most aren't trained on the subject.
You really need to go to a dedicated Travel Clinic with trained professionals, who will discuss in a bit of depth what type of journey you're making, length, where to EXACTLY, lifestyle.
All your answers will be fed onto a computer, and at the end of the appointment, you will be given a bespoke hard-copy Health Brief based on the answers you have given to all that you discussed.
Some Travel Clinics use GP Surgeries, have access to your medical records, and are free. Obviously the medication, if required, might not be free.0 -

Personally, I wouldn't want medical advice from anyone who didn't have access to my medical records.0
