jackieb, that graphics card (a GeForce 8600GT) would be compatible.
Just hold off buying the Acer for now as I may have found better monitors with DVI for around the same price! G0 -
Thank you.

Just want to add in - your son will be able to use the monitors with games that support high resolutions but he might have to play on lower resolutions if he is getting slower ingame performance.0

I think almost anything would be better than the monitor he has just now.

Sorry to crash Ihatedida posting, but can anyone comment on the one in the link. Am not a big gamer, just play unreal tournament now and then, plus I can get discount on the monitor to bring the price down to £130.50, but is it any good?

Thankyou everyone for your help - after spending ages looking at your suggestions, I opted for the above one http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Displays/Monitors/TFT+20+-+23/20%27%27+LCD+ASUS+VW202S+Widescreen+5ms?productId=28669 - and got it for £142 inc p&p (plus 3% back on Quidco for me!!!!). You've all been really helpful :T0 -
IHateDida, I'm glad you found something you liked
.
Though the specs look OK (monitor on the Emprex website), it's hard to tell. Never heard of that brand before, & couldn't find any independent reviews.tommie1shunt wrote: »Sorry to crash Ihatedida posting, but can anyone comment on the one in the link. Thanks for any info.
Perhaphs the best thing you could do is view it in action firsthand - visit a Comet store & request a demo.
How are you getting it for that price btw? Don't forget 3.5% Quidco cashback too. G
P.S. I took a chance on an unknown brand (to me anyway) last year & have been very happy with my £105 HannsG 19" TFT purchase. Their monitors are reviewed by many mags & sites these days0 -

Managed to find one with scart & TV tuner (analogue?): 19" Hyundai IT BlueH HM19W for £163.21 delivered. To get Scan Free delivery - sign-up at AVForums-Scan offer & open a Scan account.Sorry to but in but I too am looking for monitor for my OH as he is avid gamer and so is my son.We would really like it to play dvd's and connect his PS2 to it too so do any have scart input and also i have heard some have freeview in too,any ideas??? Or, get a standard widescreen TFT monitor (<--- 19" search) with at least 5ms response time, & a device like the Gadmei TV6808E (~£30 I think if you can get one) for Digital TV (Freeview) & connectivity to a PS2. G
Edit: Acer P193W 19" Crystalbrite Widescreen Monitor for £99.99 - may not be available at that price for too much longer!0
