Hi, can anyone recommend a decent spec and obviously decent priced LCD monitor for a pc - I want to buy my OH one for Xmas - he is an avid gamer so it must refresh (?!!!!) and I am a money saver so it must be cheap-ish!
I am looking for 19"+, budget no more than £150 really but as cheap as poss and Quidco/money off/cheap would be good!
Any ideas?
Thankyou!:j

Your OH is a gamer so he'd want high contrast ratio, low response time and various other sorts. I bought one for my auntie (she's not a gamer but tasked me to kit her out with a top notch pc for less than £500 lol) and teh black is truly black.
This one is perfect (41p over your budget)

But if you can find it cheaper anywhere or find someone with an NUS card (I have one lol), you can get 5% off the price shown.0 -
No personal experience but this looks pretty similar to the one from maninawhitecoat and is a bit bigger.

What size monitor is your OH using at the moment? If he's not used to a widescreen they can take a bit of getting used to and personally I think you need a bigger size when you go widescreen. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Hi - he's used to a 19" CRT. Do you reckon widescreen would be best?0
-
Widescreen is rapidly becoming the standard. The only issue is that a traditional 4:3 ratio 19" screen is a lot taller than a 19" widescreen, so the widescreen can seem a bit odd at first. At work we are replacing 19" and 20" 4:3 monitors with 22" widescreen monitors for example.
You can get a 22" widescreen for £150 but I don't know how good they are for gaming. It's my problem, it's my problem

I can find maninwhite coats monitor from Pc World (£109 inc del)
A 19" CRT is virtually the equivalent of a 17" TFT in terms of viewable area
For 22" widescreens, this cibox isn't bad value at £149.99
Word of warning, if OH has a DVI graphics card, which as a gamer I would expect he has, then make sure you order the right one. Ther eare instructions on the page linked to as to which one to order0 -
thats a good find red rose exile! You're Cibox links to the LG though0

Oops cheers maninwhitecaot, was doing my usual google and must have copied an earlier link. Here's one I prepared LATER

For only £10 more I'd go for a better quality £160 Acer instead - Acer P223W 22" CrystalBrite Widescreen Monitor
One size down for £130: Acer P203W 20" CrystalBrite Widescreen Monitor

Sorry to butt in here. My son has this graphics card -http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000PL7PL6
Could anyone tell me if the £160 Acer from Amazon would be compatible with it? The monitor has great reviews but someone has said that he needed to buy a new graphics card as his computer didn't support 1680X1050 resolution.
I'd be grateful for any advice as I haven't a clue. I bought my son a new computer last year (bought without a monitor) but he's been using a 9 year old CRT monitor, so he's getting a new one for Christmas.0
