I am considering a Virgin cable offer for broadband, new in our street so great offer, if after the contract they want to bump up the cost does anyone know what it would cost for reconnection to a BT line for broadband with another supplier.

a few companies charge nothing.
Some charge around £65
Virgin tend to increase prices every October, and if you negotiate often go back on the deal requiring further phone calls.
Prices will increase massively after 12/18 month new customer deal.
If you are happy with the speed over the current connection, I would stick with it!
Oh and door to door salesmen and liers too. No bloody regulation signing up through one of them. Will tell you all sorts of lies and money off deals, which you will have to fight for when the office process it.0
