Emirates refusing flight delayed claim

I need to raise a claim for delayed emirates flight from London Heathrow to Islamabad. The flight was transit through Dubai and the first leg of the journey (London-Dubai) was delayed by more than 7 hours, that caused the second leg (Dubai-Islamabad) flight to be missed which caused a long wait on the Dubai airport.
I spoke to Emirates and they have clarified that they won't honour the claim and the delay was due to closed air space in Asia. I don't agree to their reasoning and question how would that cause the London-Dubai flight to be delayed. All other London-Dubai flights were run at normal times on the same day.
Do I have a ground to make a claim and which what is the best route to raise the claim.

Firstly put your flight details into bottonline and then euclaim and see what they say and then come back.0

bottonline suggested that I have a valid claim however requires me to fill in the contact details and passenger details to process the claim.
Should that be my next step to pursue a claim ?0 -

You can DIY or use Botts for a cost of about 30% of any compensation they get on your behalf. They are regulated, professional and good at their job, but ultimately it's up to you.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Okay, thanks for the advise.
Is there a howto page or a guideline how to do a DIY the claim ? I am of course getting no-where with emirates directly and I have no previous experience in that area.0 -
If you are going the DIY route google and download Vauban's Guide and read. On page 6 is a template letter before action which you fill in with your own details.0
