Switching Home Telecom to NowTV

Following the brilliant BROADBAND tool on here we realised we could save £20/month by switching to NOWTv from HomeTelecom.
After very carefully completing the form we selected "KEEP EXISTING NUMBER".
Unfortunately you never get a copy of the form and we got a stream of emails each with the message
"Your NOW TV phone number:
We'll let you know this in a few days. Leave it with us"
Since we had selected KEEP OWN NUMBER the fact that they never told us a new number we assumed it was a standard email.
The transfer happened last night. Kept trying our number but was getting a message "not currently receiving calls"... We assumed this was part of the transfer.
Chased it this morning to find that they DIDN'T transfer the number and now it is lost.
I've kept that number for over 20 years, sometimes at great cost.
They claim that we didn;t request a number retention. I know we did....
It appears that many people have fallen into this trap.
I think MSE should put a warning about this on the TOOL page?
Anyone else suffered this?

Home Telecom released the number with the line, as requested.
Sky TV (Which is what NowTV is), did not collect the number.
It is not reasonable to say that we ignored multiple emails, as the emails are not clear that the old number isn't being retained and that a new number has been issued.
Even 24 hours after the transfer NowTV have not informed us of a new number.
My comment is that MSE should warn people to DOUBLE check and keep on the case that they want their number to port across....
Surely 99% of people want to retain their number, not loose it.
At No point did NowTV give me a new number.... not even now.
It appears from internet searches that this is VERY common....
Click the box to "Retain Number" and it isn't.0 -
Suggest you contact MSE with your warning .0
