Does Paypal chargeback count against seller/account in any way?

I have a buyer who, 2 months after purchase, is claiming that the item is defective. The item was brand new in sealed box, and allegedly they only just come round to installing it and found out it was faulty after installation. Item's covered by manufacturer's warranty but they opened ebay case saying they want a refund. I can decline ebay case, but I believe they'll turn to paypal chargeback next?
I've never had a Paypal chargeback so my question is am I likely to lose that one and will it affect my account in any way, like escalated ebay cases do? I'm a private seller, if it makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

A PayPal case does not impact on your eBay account at all.

Thanks soolin! Do you know if a chargeback somehow adversely affects Paypal account itself?

It shouldn't do unless you suddenly get loads and the system thinks you are a scammer, a single claim, or two, makes no difference.

Two things you need to take note: 1) Paypal might charge you an extra £14 for the privilege if the chargeback is initiated by bank; and 2) You will not get your eBay seller fee back whatever comes out.
