Nationwide pre-approved

in Credit cards
So, I'm currently in the midst of being transferred over to Nationwide to capitalise on their 'refer-a-friend' incentive for current accounts. At the point of acceptance online, they also stated (paraphrasing here) that I'd additionally been pre-approved for a CC with them and a fairly decent credit balance level was duly offered.
At that point, I chose not to go with their offer. But, on reflection, I thought it'd be a decent move (0% TV and spending for 12 months). I am well aware I can get better offers elsewhere. However, I only have a modest CC balance and thought, since I've already been pre-approved, that they'd just let me roll with it.
So, I called up today (around 4-5 days after their offer). After being put on hold for 5 mins, I was told that said offer had now been withdrawn and that if I wanted a CC, I can reapply.
I asked why since I was already approved during the current acc switch process. I was told that my credit score will vary day by day, meaning that I'd need to be re-assessed. I explained that the only reason I was pursuing their CC was that they'd already agreed to approve me. I said that I'd happily take my CC business elsewhere (e.g. Barclaycard) where I'd be offered 0% for over 30 months. The call-centre woman didn't bat one eyelid.

It was an offer at the time of opening the other account.
You chose not to accept it.
They have no grounds to honour the offer as it should have been taken at the time.0 -
My guess is that they did a credit check on the day and decided that you were eligible.
Now, later on, you might've taken out a new loan, new credit card - anything could have happened. In order to check your eligibility, they'd need to do a new credit check - hence you aren't preapproved.0 -

You should have pointed out to her that no one has a credit score.
I can guarantee you that credit scores do exist and if you want one then you can have one, or more than one if you want.
Nationwide will also have calculated a score (whether it's between 0 and 1 or 0 and 1000) and it is only valid at that particular point in time.0 -

Unfortunately the call centre woman won’t care. If it’s no it’s no!
I work in finance and I often get people saying they want better rates of they will move money. I literally say sorry to here that and I move on to the next customer. There is nothing I can do the rates are the rates you get no special treatment. :rotfl::rotfl:
You should hear the discussions we have over the coffee machine :rotfl::rotfl:
I have endless stories of demanding customers who can’t have what they want.0 -

They have their own internal “scoring” system/algorithm yes.
But let’s not confuse this with the CRA fuzzy score0
