Crazy Problem: Dormant Contract - Billing
I appreciate the immediate response to this will be disbelief and possibly even ridicule
but in short, I have a mobile phone contract that has been billing £25 a month for over two years since the phone was even used (at which point it had already exceeded the minimum contract period).
It is a combination of circumstances that caused this mistake - getting a fully paid for mobile from work, not checking my bank statements closely and moving from the address the phone was registered to all around the same time. Idiotic I know, but there you go, T-Mobile continue to bill.
I'm wondering whether a company billing 25 quid a month outside minimum contract period for a dormant service could in any way be pursued for over charging or non-representitive charges? Or do I have to chalk this one down as a costly mistake and move on?
If it's the latter, can I recover any of the value of this black-hole of money from them without committing to a new contract? Before getting a phone from work I remember a T-Mobile shop assistant calling up and finding I was entitled to 150 quid loyalty discount on any phone.
Obviously job and address changes (I even lived out of a bag away from home on work for 4 or 5 months) caused me to forget this contract or entitlement. Is there anything I can do? At this point its hard work just to bite the bullet and cancel because I want to get something out of it

sounds like you should just phone up and request a disconnection.
end of the day, 'tis your fault you didnt cancel, and unfortunately it has cost you a lot of money.
t-mobile will not give you anything back, no free handset, and very unlikely to give you cash for previous months.
not the advice you were looking for, but it's not upto them to chase you up to tell you you're not using their service!
