Bulb Variable tariff

Hi all,

So trying to decider whether to move to Bulb or not, I have a doubt.

They are on a variable tariff, and I was wondering, how often have they changed it in the last 1-2 years and what has the trend be like. I would very unhappy if I joined now and suddenly it went up a lot in the next few months, as I have the opportunity to join BG (At least for 1 year) on a quite "cheap" tariff

Different question, I never chased on tariff prices. Yesterday's threat was really useful and I really appreciate all the answers. This is slightly different regarding the Vari-Fair variable Tariff, not asking for input on the company or BG as I have looked into it from yesterday's recommendations.

My tariff with Bulb was lowered slightly about 6 weeks ago.
Variable tariffs can go down as well as up. Gas prices appear to be lowering, whereas electric prices seem to be going up.
Bulb appear to be operating a kind of pyramid selling operation.
I have just received my first £50 referral fee from a neighbour who switched to Bulb..
Anyone who joins Bulb via a referral from a friend will collect £50 and bring with it their own chances in turn of a few £50 referral fees in the year.
That alone would make it the cheapest supplier in the UK by far. No wonder their customer base is rising

    Hi,

When trying to change I'm being ask for my gas MPRN. I have gone into my bill and I can't seem to find anything but a long Number under meter, but the issue is MSE is asking for a 6-10 number, while the one I have has more than 10 and also letters.

My last bill has 2 different meters as I have had recently changed to a Smart Meter. The old one is 6 number but not the new one. How should I proceed?

P.S. On the online chat with them, and they are giving me a 14 digit number so still not valid for the switch :S

    Cheers

I have bean with sse less than one year
Electricity costs have risen in that time.
I cannot yet answer what Bulb refer to though I suspect they will apply rises when wholesale costs increase.
I'm only a few days from Bulb active day and I hope to keep an eye on usage and costs.
Mser's have already confirmed Bulb display your monthly entered readings with bill in two days, which is fine.
I feel confident as sse used a starting point when they set DD 81pounds per month which late 2018 went upto 84 with more csrs requesting I consider high 90's or from 100.
Bulb have only as yet used my current usage which I entered from sse annual bill.
Bulbs initial DD is from 66 pounds-though I already know it doesn't include hall storage heater being kept on low , therefore I'm very interested to know is any increase going to be near or more than 84 per month, I'll then get an idea if I've made a decent move.
OP have you compared BG unit costs day/night with Bulbs unit costs day/night
I sometimes think this gives a basic visual idea if its worth switching or not.
In my experience there isn't a great deal of difference from a lot of providers.
Sse DD was higher than SP though yearly total cost wasn't much different at all.
Sse like customers to have enough balance all year where SP. was use during summer etc go into debit during and after winter and catch up after winter again.
Two very different ways of working.
It seems Bulb prefer the upfront route also-which I don't mind similar to sse's way of working.
Hope you are happy with whichever provider you choose!

The MPRN isn't the same thing as the meter serial number.
MPRN or Meter Point Reference Number is found on the EDF bill at the bottom of the page that shows the charges for gas. It is listed as Meter Point Reference under a little symbol for gas.

Have a shufti here to see if there's any info about where to find it on your bill.

failing that have a look at the meter itself

The MPRN will be on the bill, it's never on the meter.

To answer your question on the variable tariff, generally prices have been falling for quite some time, so the next Cap update is expected to be a reduction.

I'm requested to submit 1st Bulb meter readings Monday 6th May.
Wich offer a choice of 6th to 11th May.
Am I correct in thinking that earlier the better for Bulb Meter readings.
    11th is official Customer Day.
