Increasing my Instagram followers

First, I want to say sorry if I'm in the wrong thread? 
Anyway.
I just started an account on Instagram last year and still just have a 50+ of followers though I follow alot of people. (It's kinda suck when they don't follow back). I've post like once a day and I still don't gain followers (Cause according to my friend that persuade me start an Instagram account, that I have to post all the time to be influential and gain followers)
I don't know what should I do beside from posting. Are there other ways to improve my account and increase my followers? Thanks in advance

What's your objective in getting more followers?
That will determine your strategy.0 -
Post a lot of hashtags, find follow for follow accounts, just keep posting basically! Don't get hung up on it though, very few people actually get enough followers to be influential.0
