This is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread SO, hugs to you and anyone else in need.

We have to move the boat today, yesterday was hellish, CHS is like an unexploded bomb, I never know what is going to make him kick off, it makes for a stressful life.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning folks and thanks SO for the start off. I hope you are getting some support with all the arrangements you have to deal with.

I am churned up about a decision I finally made yesterday. I got a letter from the hospice that cared for Bob in his last weeks, inviting me and my family to attend a service of reflection and thanksgiving on the 6 month anniversary since we lost him. Followed by a chat with other bereaved families we may have met at that time and volunteers who helped us. It's this coming Thursday afternoon. My initial thought was I can't do it. But I decided I had to so DD, DS and the 3 DGDs are coming with me. My DB thinks it will knock me back to square which is just what my initial thought was. I rang them yesterday to confirm we will be attending and hope I don't regret it.

Being a Tuesday I am meeting my oldest buddie as usual this morning for coffees and then lunch. I will offload my worries on her. She has supported me so well these last months.

Have a good day folks and thinking as always of the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Special thoughts with TAFF, HOLLY, POPPY, SILVER-OLDIE and DM of GERS and just about everyone else on here just now. Take care all xx

    Good morning folks.

Thanks for the thread SO - I too hope you get some help to plough through all the necessary processes.

Yesterday I spent a quiet half hour putting curtain hooks into the freshly laundered curtains for DM's room. Then I got the string of leaded weights into the hems. I thought that that works be difficult though it turned out to be so easy. This morning the man from the blinds company is coming to install the remote unit and new curtain track.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital...DM was OK yesterday. She had eaten three-quarters of her lunch which is progress. Today the dentist is going in to assess her mouth and dental plate. Getting the plate adjusted properly will give DM a fighting chance.

TA - you've had a difficult decision there, I hope it works out for you and the family.

My thoughts are with everyone who is struggling today. Happy Tuesday to all.

Good morning, another grey start here.

Glad to hear from you SO. Thinking of you at this most sad and difficult of times.

Hester, sorry to hear you had such a bad day yesterday, hope today is a bit better.

What a hard decision for you TA. I'm sure your lovely family will help you through. Good idea to unburden to an old friend - what would we do without them. Hope you have a nice lunch as well.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

    Take care folks xx
  • Good morning,

Taff - thanks for the recipe. Do they taste strongly of banana, or is that an ingredient used to help bind the mixture? Might give it a bash.

Yesterday was spent in work. All day. Like before 8am till closer to 9pm. Just one of those days that needed all hands on deck and what else was I going to do? Go to the gym and then sit on the couch? I ultimately just skipped the gym went straight to siting on the couch, watching the latest Game of Thrones episode (maybe the best episode of TV I've ever seen. Has anyone else seen it?).

Back in work this morning for more of the same - possibly. I'm contemplating my boxing class but my wrist is till giving me jip so I might skip it to avoid aggravating it. Instead, I'll defo go to the gym and go a run.

My mum called to say that my Gran wasn't feeling well over the weekend and so stayed with her for a couple of days. Symptoms sounds like kidney stones or appendicitis, but she's not in that much pain right now. Waiting on test results. It's times like these when I wish I was closer to home.

    SO - I hope you're doing ok.
TA - Oh that's a tough decision to make but with the family supporting you, it'll make it easier. Only you will know deep down.
Gers - You're a real trooper. Hope DM continues to improve.

    Morning :)

SO I'm guessing that you are having to deal with this yourself although I do hope your son can find it in himself to offer the help you need. Maybe someone from your local Age UK could help? Anyway for what its worth have a hug I wish it could be more useful x

Had a very long but worthwhile visit to Bridgend yesterday despite the visit only lasting an hour with the travel over 7hrs I am glad i went. Came in dumped my bags and went to bed.

Mum day today so will hopefully get some work done whilst she is faffing around Morries.

Nothing much else on the plan so hope everyone has a lovely day if possible....btw nanny and taff Antigua for an OS meet it is ....get packed and ready :D

TA I shall be thinking of you honey as it is a hard time, but go and try to think of the good times which outweigh the bad ones

SO I do hope you have some help over the coming days as I know life is tough for you and again remember your Mum with love and be happy you could be with her for so long.

To all the poorlies who are finding it hard my thoughts are with you too, life can be such a bind at times ,but we all plod along and look back this time next year and think 'well got through that at least'

Today the sun is shining and I have a line of washing out already. Probably pop to Dobbies later as its U3A coffee morning so will meet up with pals for my freebie coffee.

I am running down my fresh food stuff as next Monday I am off on my travels again to Bath for my freebie trip for five days. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind.

    Morning everyone,

We had bright sunshine first thing but the mist has now rolled in, hopefully it will disappear again soon as we are forecasted a warm afternoon. The lovely Lu needs some exercise and I also need to wash all the brushes in my grooming kit so that’s my jobs for later.
TA it’s a tough decision but might not be a bad thing to go along, the hospice that looked after Mum does something similar every year, both times I’ve gone along I’ve just sobbed my way through it but the tears were cathartic iyswim.
Speky Another massive fan of GOT here, no spoilers but oh my, I felt completely exhausted by the end of ep 3, best thing I’ve seen in many a year.

Hugs to all poorlies or those caring for them, have a good day folks x
