German tracking showing delivered but buyer claims not received

    I once sent something overseas by royal mail tracking. When I checked online it said my letter had been delivered successfully to Mumbai, India. Which was great except that the letter was going to Sydney, Australia!! I sent it again and checked online to get confirmation it had been delivered to the correct destination.

    I sent a small parcel via Royal Mail tracked to Germany a few months ago and the buyer claimed they had never received it but the tracking showed delivered. The thing is, the Royal Mail never passed it over to Deutsche Post, it got transferred over to a company called GLS.

    Long story short, it transpires that they delivered it to one of their local postal shops and they then class that as delivered. They hadn't left a card for the buyer and the buyer checked a number of their postal shops before he found the one they had delivered it to (it wasn't the nearest one!!).

    Check the tracking on the Royal Mail website and it should tell you the company they have handed it over to.

    GLS are RMs partner courier network. did you send it via Parcelforce or RM?

    Forgot to update this as been pretty busy trying to find out what happened only to not be told anything useful at all:

    Spoke to RM on the phone and the lady said that tracking numbers don’t change as far as she knows. She then went to ask her manager to confirm who apparently confirmed the same thing, although I’m inclined to believe the buyer as they showed me one that had changed. Anyway the lady said they can’t carry out any investigations until I put my claim in and I can’t do that until 11th May.

    Also just to say that I checked the tracking number on the Deutsche Post site and it was one of the first things I did before I posted and it shows delivered on there too, which is what makes this even more confusing.

    Thanks to everyone who posted. Just have to wait until the 11th I guess.
