Morning all
Thanks for the thread SO, so sorry to hear you news.
We were in the marina last night waiting for our solar panels to arrive they finally turned up at just be for 9, by the time they were off the lorry it was too dark to move so we were up at 7am to get out the marina before it opened for the day. We had to travel to the nearest winding hole to turn around and get back to where we were moored on the cut.
Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon everyone :hello:
Hi nanny, I haven't been posting lately as I don't think I have anything interesting to say. One of the problems of staying in all the time is that you don't really do anything of note and so you have very boring, flat days. My friends are ill and so they can't visit me and I don't see anyone else apart from my family. I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to explain.
Oh Silver-Oldie, I was so sorry to read your news this morning. I can only echo others when I wish you and Mr SO my condolences and also hope your son will help you xx
I decided to spend some of my birthday money on a visit from a chiropodist to sort out my horrible feet. She came and was a very pleasant lady and didn't recoil in horror once presented with my trotters but unfortunately she cut my heel open with a scalpel blade so it is still very sore and throbby. It was a complete accident so I am not holding a grudge but it did make me think that nothing is ever straightforward once it comes to my body.
I have asked Steve to get me some house plants I can look after as I used to love gardening and I miss being able to grow and nurture plants. I have been looking to see what I would like but it is all dependant on what he can actually get hold of. I only want about 3 or 4 for now. What kind of house plants if any have you all got at home?
Roast beef dinner tonight with loads of veg as we have lots in the fridge to use up. There is an apple crumble and ice cream for pudding if we have room.
Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely afternoon and evening whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
SO, I am so sorry for your loss.
Dumpling, take care of that cut, I'm sure you know as a diabetic you are more prone t infection. Which reminds me, don't you qualify for free foot care as a diabetic.
We're home again, Laura's migraine is better but she's still got a headache and feeling sick. I had the most horrendous pregnancy with her so I was hoping she'd be ok.
Steve's gone golfing with Chris and I'm going to do some sewing.0 -
Silver-oldie I am so sorry to hear the sad news of your DMs passing .I am sending love ,hugs and strength to you over the coming days xx
We have been to buy some artificial leaf screening panels for where DH took down the woodshed, and also some to hide the bins .We put it up after a bacon butty.Quite impressed
I have got beef in the sc for tea,DH usually does the roasties,he reckons they're better than mine;) Apple pie for after.
Another one for Line of Duty tonight.Last night we rented Bohemian rhapsody and enjoyed it.Not often we do that but it was cheaper than a night out,and I still felt a bit under par and fell asleep in the afternoon once the DGC went home.Much better today
Taff, glad you are nearly at the end of your treatment :T
Nmlc- not sure when you're off but enjoy your hols.
Have a nice evening xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Dumpling no need for any explanation, I just hoped that all was well in your world. ( and I'm plain nosey :rotfl: ) I also have very little to say on a daily basis ........... but I don't let that stop me from waffling for Wales :rotfl:. Don't forget we are all also your extended family and like to chat about anything ( or nothing ) in particular
.
I have a succulent plant in my bathroom, a Jade plant and it's very easy to care for. I have given up on keeping any more house plants that need constant watering, as we normally are away a lot with the van during the summer. I hope your heel heals quickly.

My little visitor Sky was just so cute but what a handful, as are all pups at that tender age. Everything was to be sniffed at, attacked, chewed, shook etc etc. After racing round and round the sofa at top speed she suddenly collapsed on the rug and went to sleep. Aw bless she is gorgeous. I used to love my tramps over the moors with our dogs in my younger and fitter days and, much as I would love another dog, I'm not up to the dog walking these days with my dodgy hips and knees.
Other than that and making my lunch, all else I have done is a bit of ironing. Now it's feet up time either with my book or seeing what I can find to watch on catch up. I suddenly feel a bit lazy.
Enjoy the rest of the day folks if you can and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon all,
So sorry to hear your news SO, not easy when your DM passes, my sympathy and prayers for the difficult time ahead.
We were all glued to the London Marathon, as both DS2 and his DGF were running......they both finished in good times .....whether they were satisfied with times remains to be seen, DS is very hard on himself..
Holly, you need to rest and not worry about cleaning, you will get to it in time.
Dumpling.....I can only imagine how painful your foot is, look after yourself.
Dull and cool here today, need to stir myself as I have been sitting so long.....DSIL is on dinner duty, roast beef I got half price on Friday, plenty to do for a curry tomorrow......I would have no problem with roast again tomorrow with fresh veg but tomorrow is not my call!
Hugs to all where needed, stay safe.

Silver-Oldie….so sorry to hear about your mum.
Had a shock yesterday...youngest DDs boyfriend on the doorstep about 5pm with little DGD to say DD had been taken away in an ambulance and the paramedics thought it could be a stroke! Well you can all imagine what the next couple of hours were like....imagining all sorts....then DD rang about 8pm to say 'I'm fine now mum'. Turned out her blood pressure had shot up really high, higher even than when she had her emergency caesarean. So she has tablets and has to see the doctor tomorrow...she was back home last night. So I had my little visitor which was lovely, except I couldn't get to sleep till after 12, then she needed feeding at 2am, then she woke again at 6....early night planned tonight! DD feels absolutely fine today, but scared about how it happened so fast. I'd been with her till half an hour earlier and she was fine.
Spent today having lots of cuddles and playing with little one. also strimmed the grass at the back of Dds house0 -
Thinking of you SO. Big hugs to you all.0

How awful dp! I'm glad that it all turned out OK in the end.
I had a good visit with DM today, she still finds it difficult to eat but is happily doing The Times crossword. I took her the new William Boyd paperback which she pounced on. The staff were lovely with me and an 'activities co-ordinator' came round trying to encourage DM to do some painting. DM is a very good painter so I'm hoping she'll have a go. I took in some elderflower cordial which she likes and some little sponge madelaines - she ate one tiny piece by tiny piece. Her Oldie magazine had arrived so I took that in too.
The hospital is on the east side of the city - somewhere where I haven't been much, near to Celtic Park. As DM lives in the west end it's all very strange to me. I rely on my sat nav to get me there and back, I'm certainly getting to know more of the suburbs of Glasgow.
Once back I collected the dry cleaning and then dropped in to have a cup of tea with a couple of friends. I needed to speak to adults who weren't nursing staff, shop assistants or DM. That sorted me out!
My thoughts are still with SO and poppy.0
