Yes, by my 'strike out their substitute' read redraft the will leaving out the clause dealing with substituting executors.

It almost certainly would What more can be said that anything not done by a solicitor is foolhardy. Would you go to an amateur dentist or doctor? Of course not!! It is incredible that so many people can scrimp on one of the most import things.

Even if they delete the clause where the substitute executor tries to get a foot in the door for their 1.5% (plus extras no doubt) if any of the other 4 are no longer alive/willing/able - if I were them I would have lost trust in the rest of the will by now.

They need to be structured to make use of all 4 nill rate bands as they are not transferable.

Passing assets to each other and life interest trust cause IHT issues.
