OP, I can't answer as I've never had a debit card refund from Travelodge.

M&S purchases refunded to my M&S debit card usually appear the following working day, but as molerat said, such refunds can take up to 5 days.

It clearly states within 10 days of cancellation.

Yes the dog is connected by the story as my dog would have escaped..

No it doesn't.

Travelodge "will normally credit refunds within 10 days". IE credit the refund to the original payment card. How long it takes for that payment to appear in the relevant account is outside their control.

In my admittedly limited experience, debit card refunds take a little bit longer than debit card payments. Not sure why! The other week I brought some stuff from Leicester City Football Club shop. After paying the cashier noticed I could have got some additional discount so she refunded my payment and took a second (lower) payment.

Both payments left my account the next day, but the refund didn't appear for a couple more days.

Not a major issue as was talking fairly small amounts but I don't see why there should be a lag really
