Gas meter has blown up - HELP!

I came home this evening to discover my gas meter has literally blown up.

I blame my supplier, [insert name of supplier you wish to defame here], as I alerted them previosuly as I thought the meter was faulty, but they ignored my complaint. I wish I had ignored them rather than switch to them last year. They are awful and should be avoided at all costs.

Anyway, back to my immediate problem of my gas meter....

I suffer from mental health problems, and have a 6 month old baby to look after.

Has anyone else found themselves in the same situation, and if so, what did you do to resolve the situation?

First things first - have you got any gas leak, in which case you need to ring British Gas or whatever they're called on 0800 111 999 urgently. In fact, I think I'd do that anyway, because I would imagine you need an urgent safety check on everything. Is your home safe? I can't really visualise what's happened here.

As above you MUST IMMEDIATELY CALL THE GAS EMERGENCY NUMBER particularly if the meter is sited inside your property.

When you say blown up do you mean as in an explosion?

Is what's left safe or is gas escaping?

Is it safe for you to turn the lever on the gas pipe just before it reaches the meter to shut off the supply?

More than likely but OP could be over exaggerating?

If it had really blown up, lucky there is no other damage to house and no gas leak,

And everyone these days has mental health issues its the new in thing.:(

The last gas meter I saw which was wrecked when a big gas leak blew up the whole house and half of next doors.. It was so damaged that BG Revenue Protection could not attribute tampering with the meter as a cause..That was in Dundas Rd, Sheffield in 2014. This is a wind up of course.

If So

Please if your gas meter blows up do not waste time joining and then posting on money savings sites.

A better idea would be contacting emergency gas repairs and emergency services, such as the fire service.
