What's your budget. For new, £250 gives you the bare minimum

Or John-Lewis give 2 year warranty for £280

But ideally aim for 256GB SSD and 8GB memory but prices start rising.

Or perhaps a refurb may be better value.0 -
Stay far away from any of the devices on that page under £200.
If you can obtain a good example of one of these; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Latitude-E7240-Ultrabook-i5-4300U-4GB-128GB-SSD-Touchscreen-Laptop-/232902237137 one without any screen defects, I would choose it. Just go for the base model at £150, as you can install the operating system for free on those devices.0 -
I was looking at this . I have no minimum budget as such but as it's only used for internet broswing and doing the odd doucument i wanted something ok but nothing under the £200 rubbish they have on offer in currys, so just wanted to know a good bare minium laptop i should go for that will last me

You said "good processor". The one you linked above has a "just about good enough" processor and with the SSD may be usable (to be honest the first one I listed was an A9 processor which isn't that much better).
The GOOD news is if you decide to go for the one you're obviously interested in, you can get 10% off @Ebay...

Did you have a look at Everywhere's suggestion? A refurb can give you more for your money.0 -

Yes but the bad sort of Ryzen 3.
2200U = Chocolate teapot.
2300U = Actually usable (though rare to find as companies believe people will think they are much the same! (I guess)).0 -
Over the past few years, as a family we have bought a laptop, a couple of tablets and a phone from Morgan Computers (https://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/).
Some of their stuff is new, but most is reconditioned in A1 condition and we have been very happy with all our purchases. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If buying new, as others mention, go for one with an SSD. There are some old models still around with sluggish HDDs that sales staff may be pushy over clearing stock. Almost all new laptops come with unwanted junk software, the free program “PC Decrapify” (https://www.pcdecrapifier.com/) is a user friendly utility to get rid of demo stuff, McAfee, etc. Few laptops include a DVD drive, a USB one is around £12 on eBay. Check for an easy to change battery too, few adverts mention batteries as accessories, suggesting it may not be easy to replace.
If you opt for a second user laptop, add the cost of a replacement battery... most will have an old but usable battery, it might not have much capacity.0 -
^^ Why would you install crap to remove crap ? That makes no sense ..
Programs&Features is easily accessible to anyone who can find the control panel0 -

Clearly you haven’t tried the program. It doesn’t install, it is intended to assist novices remove unwanted software of the kind manufacturers thoughtfully clutter new laptops with.0
