Temporary modified car insurance

How far is it to the MOT place? Might be cheaper to get it transported on the back of a lorry or on a trailer than paying for insurance plus cancellation charges.
Didn't think of that.Quick thought, do you have a policy on another vehicle (in your name etc).
They may provide you with temp cover for another vehicle.
Aviva have done this for me in the past, although admittedly the car they temp insured wasn't modified.
They wanted over £100 for a day because of the mods. Why not see if the closest MOT station can collect ?
Unfortunately this was the closest and they don't collect.
Thank you all for your replies! I decided to take out a yearly policy with a modified car specialist because it worked out so much cheaper and cancellation is £30. Plus the car failed the MOT so it worked out for the best in the end.
Thanks again

He's means looking for the closest one which offers collections, rather than asking if the closest one can collect.
I'd never recommend a big chain for MOTs, you're much better with an independent garage, the grubbier the better. Most of them should be able to collect.
Otherwise, you'd be looking to see if you can find someone to trailer it there and back, but that's not going to be cheap unless you already know someone.
How confident are you that it's going to pass the MOT?0 -

Yup, I misunderstood. Definitely gonna try that one in future and definitely a different garage because I think I got scammed! I suspect Halfords have brake disc/pad quotas because they're claiming all kinds of issues which I know for an absolute FACT were not there before I took it there. Going to contact trading standards because what they're claiming is ridiculous.0 -

I would get it retested elsewhere before you start throwing accusations around. TS will nojt do a lot otherwise.0 -
Halfords / kwick fit etc are places you never take a car for an MOT, if you have a problem with a MOT it's VOSA you contact.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

If you're complaining about an MOT, there's a formal process...I suspect Halfords have brake disc/pad quotas because they're claiming all kinds of issues which I know for an absolute FACT were not there before I took it there. Good things to know. ThanksIf you're complaining about an MOT, there's a formal process...

Thanks for the link. I changed the pads and discs myself. I have done many of these. I tested them and drove to the test centre (6-7 miles including dual carriageway driving and braking from 70). Now they're claiming the drivers side pads were on backwards. They're definitely on backwards now and there is ZERO chance that was the case before. On inspection, the front disc had zero wear too.
Apparently it also needs a rear brake pipe but i'm going to check that further because i'm told the previous owner changed the pipes.
There's a load of other things too, but I need to check further with those.0 -
Did you notice the most important part of the appeal? DO NOT WORK ON THE CAR.0
