Apple not offering mail in repair

I would have to send it away as you I wouldn't be able to open it myself, even if I could I don't think apple will just send out parts. Problem is I won't be able to get to a store for at least another 2 months, so their "solution" isn't really viable for me. This happened with my last phone and they sent out an envelope to send it in, however I called them the last time, so maybe I will try again tonight but call them instead of live chat.
Things change, perhaps their policy has changed. It doesn't have to be a change in law0 -

No but unless there has been a change in law then it is a bit of a !!!! move on their part to change their policy. I guess I will just have to hope I get someone at Apple who is able to set up a return.0 -

You can try to reason and argue all you like, but ultimately you are bound by their T&C if your claim is on the warranty.
Try Apple again, but ultimately if they say you need to take it in, then you need to take it in.0 -

Like I said though, I don't think it is their terms, as I was allowed to do a mail in repair before. I think it is more of a case of call till you get the correct answer, as is often the case with dealing with large companies. *sigh*0 -

Well I mean the biggest shop within 2 hours drive of me is a small CO-OP, so that wasn''t really possible sadly.
The way I see it, 1 of 2 things must be true:
1. Their terms don't say that battery problems can't have mail in returns, and they were just being awkward.
or 2. People on the phone are more likely to let you have a mail in repair than people on live chat.
Whichever is true my best bet seems to be to call up again, I will update this thread if anything comes of it.Wish me luck.
