Do I need to replace my car tyre?

KF are really only good for the basic repairs. Brakes and the like. They always try to up sell............they are not making money on MOTs surely you know that.
Find a local you can trust and support him/her. Maybe they will be more expensive at the time but not in the long run.0 -
I use local Kwik Fit and find it good, but I only do tyres change and MOT there. Had no problem with passing MOTs and no extra work was ever recommended.
And today, they told me to order tyre online as it will be cheaper than buying one on site. Have a puncture in brand new tyre, which can't be fixed. I could go somewhere else, but they are across the street and have similar prices to other places. Other garage I go to sometimes, is much more expensive for tyre change, as it's not a chain.0 -
I am sure there are some good KF stores. But they have been on Watchdog for a reason.
Staff are incentivised to sell motorists products and services (inevitably things they don’t always need, want to buy or get, as per Watchdog’s findings) to supplement modest income.
This is not new or the first time.0 -
The OP said that they were told that the tyre with the crack should be replaced and the others did not need doing, but were getting near.Depends on when the test was failed. The OP has already stated the vehicle had 4mm of tread. I’d certainly be inclined to let them know.
Given it's a recent BMW and its 1st MOT, possibly the first inspection (though BMW do a free end-of-warranty check), the garage may well be right.
I had the tyres replaced on my last BMW at around 20k; I don't think the Pirellis are that hard wearing and I never drove it hard.
I'm guessing these are run-flats too, so they are intended to get you home with no air in them; the crack might affect that.
Me, I'd replace the one with the crack, as it could be indicative of an issue - why does a tyre crack?0 -

Any large company is bound to get more complaints than a small company. But any free or almost free MOT is just a money maker for the garage concerned, be aware.
A personal bad experience is not what I would call a downer.0
