  • Thanks everyone for the input

I have managed to get 2 weeks for £1530 full board in a 3 star hotel. Does this sound good, temperatures are in the 30's at the mo over there so looks like a nice time to go.

Does anyone know if it's worth paying the extra from Full Board to All Inclusive? how much will drinks cost me etc etc?

What is the best island aswell? The deal I have is for Fihalhohi Island Resort

    Thanks again:beer:

What about Spain? It's still quite warm on the coast this time of year. Oz is also hot this time of year.

Instead of hot, how about cold? Austria is fab this time of year especially with all the snow, you will still get a tan in the sunshine but cold in Austria is different to the miserable cold we have here in the UK.
  • Several people have recommended Goa. Please note that you will need a visa (for India) and at the moment there are delays in issuing visas, so PLEASE confirm that you have enough time to obtain one before your departure date. Check this out before paying for a booking with a fixed departure date: you cannot travel without a visa, and no insurance will cover this risk.

Just to elaborate on this, I believe the Indian High Commission has announced that their processing schedule for visas will now be once every 10 working days so this has obvious implications for anyone looking for a last minute trip to India.

I went to the High Commission in London on Tuesday 20th Nov arriving at 0645. I was in about 100th place. I was out of the place at about 1045 with my visas. Just need a cheap flight to Goa in time for Xmas!

Getting an Indian visa currently by going to the IHC or consulate is a matter of luck these days as there are a limited number issued each day.

If you aren't near the IHC or consulate then you could easily have an overnight stay, a day off work and still NOT get a visa.

My GF had to get a business visa recently and the courier services were quoting a FOUR week turnaround so she had a very early start, got to the Birmingham Consulate by 8:00am and only got a visa because someone gave their ticket to her.

I work not far from the Commission in London and had to get a business visa last month. I arrived before 8am and there were probably at least 500 people in front of me in the queue. It took over 2 hours to get to the front of the queue, only to be told I could come back for an interview in 2 weeks time. Since the trip was before this, it wasn't much good and I was pretty much told that they couldn't help, only gave out 300 visas a day and unless I got there at 4am to queue, to forget it. Since there's no way I could get there at that time, work had to pay for a courier to stand in the queue from 4.30am but at least we got the visa. I also met someone in the queue who had had to come down from Leicester. She'd been to Birmingham and queued the day before but they were only allowing 50 visas a day and telling people to come to London. That's my tale of woe - I hope it helps someone else.

And I hope the original poster has a lovely holiday!

The Indian High Commission in Birmingham has come in for a lot of stick lately because of their inability to issue visas. People were coming from miles around to stand in a queue all day and going home empty-handed. I saw it all on the local news because the High Commission is in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter and the queuing people were causing a problem for businesses especially as they were blocking doorways and delivery bays.

Birmingham are only issuing 50 visas a day because they just don't have the staff. It makes you wonder why to be truthful especially as they thrive on tourism - maybe they really don't want people to visit their country??

Hope OP has a lovely holiday.
