I want to ESCAPE!!!!Where's hot this time of year?

Hi Everyone

I want to escape the weekly 9-5 mon--fri and living for the weekends. I am finding it such a routine and the weeks just seem to be flying away, as you can probably tell I don't love my job but neither do most of us right?

I want to go on a last minute holiday for myself and my girlfriend and being slightly ignorant the first place I thought of were the Maldives!!! The cheapest I have found is £1850 for 2 weeks 3star hotel all inclusive which isn't too bad and it leaves DEC 9TH and the prices includes both of us.

I cannot really afford this but I have £6,000 in savings so I can really afford it but I have worked very hard to save up this money as you can imagine.

I want to go to the Maldives because it is litterally getting away from everything and I can see myself just getting lost for 2 weeks but I thought I would ask if there are any other places I should consider? and perhaps a little cheaper?

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheapest really hot place-obviously the Canaries.
  • Hi,

I would also suggest Goa in India, we went in November about 3 years ago and stayed in Candolim, the weather, food and people were fab. It's not exactly luxury but at the same time the scenery is stunning and there are some lovely beaches with lots to see and do or you could just lounge around for two weeks if you prefer and enjoy the rays. Have travelled to quite a few places but so far this has been my favourite place-totally recommended !

    Good luck ;)

Several people have recommended Goa. Please note that you will need a visa (for India) and at the moment there are delays in issuing visas, so PLEASE confirm that you have enough time to obtain one before your departure date. Check this out before paying for a booking with a fixed departure date: you cannot travel without a visa, and no insurance will cover this risk.

If you are willing to spend such a lot of money, and travel such a long way, the Seychelles are a good deal more interesting than the Maldives. A little bit further, a tad more expensive, but much prettier.

    And what's wrong with Tunisia?

We are in the process of booking a last minute flight to Miami and then onto a caribbean cruise for a week. Done my research and it should be around 25-28C while on the cruise (unless there is some freak weather!;) ). I have searched for the the last week playing about with different flights/hotels etc and we can do the above for £600 each. Thats flights, 4*hotels in miami before the cruise and then a balcony room on the cruise (Royal Caribbean International). We're leaving the 5th December btw!

You can get the Seychelles for about £1000 BB for 2 week but you will spend another £1000 on drinks and seeing the place

Back in the early 90's we spent 1300 each for HB and another 1500 on spends most day trips to other islands were £100 each at least Bird Island cost £300 each for the day/night
It is a wonderful place but best kept for a special holiday but agree it knocks spots of the Maldives

  • How about checking this website out? You might find somewhere in Tunisia or Egypt that would fit the bill and save the Maldives or Seychelles for a special holiday or even honeymoon ;)
