Knocking sound when braking- low speed to stop

Hi guys
I’ve posted about this before. I can’t seem to get to the problem. I’ve taken it to two separate garages and none of the mechanics can find something wrong with my car.
The knocking noise appears when I brake at low speed (20Mph to stop), and it becomes louder when my cars been running / got warm. The noise comes from the front left of the car, and sometimes sounds like it comes from the front middle.
Can anyone mechanically minded on here think what it may be? Could anyone maybe suggest anything and I’ll mention it to them if they haven’t already looked at it?
Two separate garages can’t find anything whatsoever. Literally do not understand it!!
TIA

I don't suppose your car has brake drums rather than discs, does it? The brake drums on my old Fiat 126 used to wear to an oval shape, so made the pedal judder.0

No it doesn’t . It’s brake pads & discs.
Also, I forgot to mention. It’s a Citroen C2 05 plate too.0 -
Could be any of a few things - suspension bushes, wear in the caliper slides, CV joint, loose bolts.
It shouldn't be hard to track down.0 -
That’s what I thought! It’s honestly so noticeable and I can’t grasp how no ones found anything?
Do we think it may also be a case of needing lubricant?0 -

It sounds more likely to be something loose or worn, as AdrianC says. You want to be careful about getting lubricant near brake components. Yes, there are certain parts that need lubricating, but some parts that most definitely don't ! Don't go splashing oil and grease around unless you know what you're doing :-)0 -
An '05 plate could have worn engine mounts, and I wonder if under braking this is allowing the engine to move forwards so that something is knocking. Braking at higher speeds might produce a different result due to the engine being under greater load. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

That was my thinking. The engine could be resonating at those speeds and not when running faster. If the mountings are very slightly loose or worn, it’s something the garage might not pick up on a stationary car.0

The garage certainly should be able to pick up worn mounts on a stationary car.0

Thanks guys! I’ll suggest all of these things. You’d have thought they have looked at them, especially between two garages, but who knows!
But you never know hahaha0 -
It might help others to offer suggestions if it was known what HAS already been checked/looked at.
