Last I recall, the USA had not certified use of this company.

They would be entitled to insist that all data traffic routing through our network be subject to additional encryption.

I believe the concern here with Huawei is more to do with up to date engineering standards.

Government ministers are calling for a "full and proper" investigation after high-level discussions about the UK using Huawei technology were leaked.
You could barely make it up.... here we are worried about the security of information regarding a Chinese Tech company.. and high level secret government talks on the matter are leaked. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeremy Hunt had been offered a Blue Peter badge only for MI5 to later discover it was a Kremlin bugging device.

Do you really think that they shared the real source code -ROTFL!

Yes, the source code is shared with a UK body called HSEC. I assume they also compiled the code themselves and ensured the checksum matched what Huawei released into the wild

When I worked in industry where my job included writing software programs I always wrote in undeclared backdoors to them which opened when a special set of header sequences were input as part of the data stream.
...and no the executable file was not complied from the declared source code.

When I worked in the industry - admitedly a while back, ALL source code was peer reviewed by a colleague in another location, sounds like standards are slipping

Gavin Williamson sacked as Defence Minister.... PM convinced he was source of leak following ongoing investigation.

PS not sure what this is doing moved into this section of the board... this is a DT thread surely.

He’s denying it was him, I see.
Gavin Williamson this evening "strenuously" denied involvement in the Huawei leak which led to his sacking as defence secretary.

Sky News reported that the former minister swore on his children’s lives he was not responsible, while he also told The Sun: "I did not leak this, and to my dying day I will keep insisting that."

It is quite an odd choice for the thread to be put.

Of course, Huawei aren't the only manufacturer with 'backdoors' in their equipment ....
