Old Style Driving Licence to Hire Car in France?

Ive resisted changing to the new style licence as I still live at the same address for the past 25 years. So I still have the old paper pink licence and obviously never had the photo one.


Can I hire a car in France with it, and if so are there any precautions I need to take before doing so.
Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.

    You can still use it. The big issue will be the guy at the desk being familiar with them.

    I am in a similar position as the OP and have used my paper licence in numerous countries worldwide. The only time I have had an issue is in the UAE and that was down the car hire company not understanding recent rule changes regarding UK licences.

    I now complete a licence code generator and take it with me, although never been asked for it, doesn't do any ham to have it. https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

    I would also check the T&c's of the car rental agreement you take out.
