Do you remember if you had the flexible type tube or the rigid tube? As I read up that the rigid type tubes do tend to give off more light, but they are more expensive. Please say flexible! Lol
I had rigid tube in three sections vertical - angled - vertical to miss one of the rafters. The main point is to have the inside of the tube highly polished.

I'm assuming it's cheaper to get a couple of solar tubes installed rather than a skylight window??

I would think so. I have just had two skylights (skypods) fitted past few weeks cost £960 each 2m x1.5m two of them fitting was done by builder not sure of cost as it was part of the refit. Even when the French doors wasnt fitted and a tarpaulin and osb boarding was on they let a lot of light in a previous garage. Its so light in there its as if I was outside and the new room has no windows in other than the new French doors

This is still work in progress kitchen is done some flooring, a little electrical work (most done) and some cupboards for storage

Yes it definitely would be cheaper from what I can gather, especially if you are looking to have them installed into an existing roof.

Funnily enough I looked in to having a lantern or something similar in my small extension and the cost was very high but I kinda understand why. There is a lot of work that needs to be carried out. Re-felting, plastering and not to mention the skylight iself.

I actually looked at the Skypods you have and it's what lead me on to the sun tubes in first place. The company I just purchased them from offer roof lanterns but the cost of them vs the skypod was quite different. I did call and ask why and the main reason was that their roof lanterns are powder coated glazing bars whereas the skypod is PVC. (These roof lanterns) Which to me, didnt really offer any beneficial. But I went to Eurocell (who I think are the ones who manufacture the skypod) to take a look and the skypods look brilliant and more importantly the glass they use is pretty much the same spec, so it would be a no brainer for me.

But the cost overall for me at the time was just too much, so that will be saved for a later date lol.

Those skypods you have though look amazing!

Ah ok! Well I have ordered the Flexible one, the rigid was a bit more money. Lets see how it works out anyway!

I got the skypods from Scarborough Window centre. I was did ask Eurocell who are just across the road from swc and they never got back to me. The skypods came directly from swc and the self cleaning glass from glass company based in Liverpool I think. The pods are grey on outside I have French doors same there aluminium grey both sides

I had a garage conversion part kitchen and part tv room which will later become a bedroom with some slight modifications when we need it

It will come to you one day. My house wasn't that large I used the side garage for storage and then we decided as daughter is disabled she may one day need downstairs she is a adult but has trouble with stairs and walking far. I thought what's point having money when it looses in real terms may as well enjoy it, I also made a promise 3 years ago to my wife to have a new kitchen, she had all the say I just choose the lighting.

I am not flush by any means certainly not now
