    If you owe someone money then you're not supposed to string them along paying it back just so you keep hold of their money for as long as possible. Asking to pay it in instalments is an admission you don't have enough money to pay the debt back, the CCJ is a note on your credit file that you are in financial difficulties.

    I'd contact the court immediately and ask them how to pay it off.
