What did they each say?

Ebay gave me a Paypal dispute number to give to Paypal. Paypal have just told us when we gave number there is no open dispute.

Ohh and Musicmagpie (seller) seemed very shocked we received the phone even though we had contacted both Ebay and Paypal who told us order was cancelled......these were both contacted before despatch.

Musicmagpie want phone back and ebay offshore centre guy told us to keep phone as they will use our vouchers and take the balance off us!! Gods knows when though. My head's swimming mate. The only guy that made any sense is a bloke at Ebay in Dublin 2 weeks ago but every time we get though it's to offshore and it's just a different story every time!!!

ps-ebay getting an email from me telling them between themselves and Paypal they couldn't run a ****-up in a brewery!!!

Whoa.....you're way off the mark there sweetie chops!!! Where did i say we were trying to get everything for nothing...why would i even come on here?? As for 6 years to pursue i heard you on that one the first time.

Ohh and the main reason i want points back as nectar. In case, whoever comes looking for £680 and i have to paid hard cash when the original balance was £315 cash and i'm left with £365 ebay vouchers that i don't really want and is it any wonder with this farce. Nectar points would at least be more valuable than tied as these things to ebay.

So thanks for your input but do toddle off and ''help'' someone else!!

ps- and i have spoken to Paypal, Ebay and Musicmagpie today and each one has a different version of events and what's happened here!!

Sweetie chops? Not really called for is it....

Where did I say you were trying to get something for nothing....you clearly can't read.

I will agree though, to withdraw my "help"....clearly you don't need it.

''Are you trying to keep everything and pay nothing?''

ohh..you were just being curious?? Ok, the answer is no.

    Thanks for your input.

Was thinking about this last night and ordered a second phone....identical but less memory for £50 less at £629.99 minus the £315 Ebay vouchers. Felt forced into this as my daughter's birthday is tomorrow and hopefully it comes in time. If it does i plan to contact Ebay seller MusicMagpie and see if they will accept £50 balance to pay for the first phone as they've now received £629.99 from us. We would then return the second phone and thus we've paid them £679.99 for the original phone which we want to keep. I hope they see sense and agree to this.

Thinking on it when i contacted Musicmagpie yesterday they seemed very cagey on the phone and i'm beginning to wonder if it is they who have messed up and sent the phone in the first place. Certainly somebody has messed up after we disputed payment with Paypal and was told by them order was cancelled yet we still received it after not paying anything??

You order a phone, dispute the payment, end up with the money and the phone and then you order a second.

You can pad out the middle bit, but the result is the same.

Wait 6 years and you should be ok so long as they don't pursue you.

In the meantime, blame it on Paypal (what a fiasco) and perhaps on Music Magpie too....oh yes you did. :T

This reminds me of something, though not on the same scale.

We ordered some shelving for the garage off Ebay, cashed in some Nectar to do it. Turned out the shelves were wrongly priced so the Nectar vouchers were returned to the account. I wanted the points instead to change to something else.

Anyway, asked Nectar if they could return the points and they said speak to Ebay, Ebay said speak to Nectar, Nectar said speak to Ebay etc etc.

It resulted in my getting a refund onto my Nectar AND the points remaining on my Ebay account. Still not figured out quite how but have to admit I spent them after a few weeks when I came to the conclusion they were not going to disappear.

Never heard anything since, and that was a few years ago.

Thanks for your response. I wish i could say the same but ours did not have as satisfactory an outcome. Picture the scene...i'm in my car on the driveway yesterday afternoon so my daughter does not hear me and call musicmagpie, the ebay vendor. Anyway, i suggest to them that now i have ordered 2 phones and they have received £629.99 from us that we keep the original phone priced at £679.99 and we pay the balance of £50 and we return the 2nd phone in the unopened packaging. Guy says he will call back and email before 5 bearing in mind this was after 4. We received the email just before 5 saying they couldn't do this and we must send original back but we were free to keep the 2nd one. They never had the guts to call so i sent them one back asking if Steve Oliver was still their Chief Executive......i'm still waiting on a response but he's getting an email anyway along with Paypal and Ebay operation heads.

These people nearly ruined my daughters birthday and after they've argued the toss about whose to blame, and personally i think there's multiple failures here, if they have not given me a satisfactory response i will take to Trading Standards. The time and hassle these companies have cost me is bang out of order!!

If you look on "https://ceo email.com" (remove the space, for some reason this website does not like it) then you will find you are correct about the ceo of MusicMagpie

Good luck, this has to be worth the fight.

Thanks for your help. We've already had a call back from someone on behalf of Chief Exec at Ebay yesterday but my wife couldn't take the call. We'll respond back over the weekend and Paypal and Musicmagpie wil be copied in. After they've finished allocating blame we'll decide where to go from there. Thanks again.

I would concentrate on getting all three bodies involved to co-operate, rather than allocating blame. You'll get this mess cleared up more easily by staying on the right side of them. Have a rant and a row after you've sorted it out!
