I would advertise it privately. You will get quite a bit more for a private sale and there is nothing terminal wrong with your car - the odd ding and a spot of rust are to be expected on a 14 year old car.
Yes, theres a bit of hassle but it can be well worth it.0 -
Last time I was looking for a car (a bit over 12 months ago) dealer was not interested in giving me 4K trade in for my current car... Decided against getting a replacement car and sent my car to auction a couple of months ago... got 5.5k for it.
It was a very easy, trouble free way of getting rid of a car I no longer wanted!
*for context was a 9 year old car with 170k on the clock - still had life in it but I didn’t need such a big car anymore...0 -
I may just go private then..the car has a number of aesthetic (non mechanical) bad points so even taking those into account and lowering the asking price should see more than I would receive via a dealer. Webuyanycar did offer too but.as expected it's a fair bit lower than what a private sale might achieve.0

I think my daughter advertised her 13 year old small car on AutoTrader for a week for free (it might have been another site but she's away now)
She also put For Sale posters in the windows.
It sold through the website after 4 days. He paid by bank transfer and she transferred ownership online whilst he was still with her so she didn't get a speeding ticket if he drove like a mad thing through the local speed cameras.
When buying the new car she took out 5 day 'drive away' insurance for £15 so she could test drive the old one and not transfer insurance until it sold.
Showroom offered her £0
Anycar offered her £70
A local dealer offered £300 (Fair enough, just a no pressure phone call)
She got £550Love living in a village in the country side0
