Are they any good? Getting fed up of pigeons perching on tv aerial and pooing on the pavement. As soon as I clean it, the poos are back again, it not only mess the pavement but also the boiler external flue etc. It is not something I will not be able to do and wonder whether a handyman could do that or even pay an aerial installer if they are willing to do the job. Thanks

We bought some clear plastic strips online (quite cheaply) to put on the television aerial to stop the pigeons making such a mess on one solar panel directly underneath. Got an aerial man to ‘tie’ them on to the horizontal part of the aerial and he also put several cable ties pointing upwards around the angled part as well. (It is a bungalow so a bit easier to get on the roof...).
There has not been a single bird on that aerial since and the solar panel is clean! A result! Definitely worked for us!0 -

Could you please post me a link for the ones you got please. Our drive and car gets covered in birds' poo and it is worse this year than it has ever been. Thank you.0 -
I cable tied these to my aerial https://www.amazon.co.uk/STV-International-Defenders-Deterrent-Seagulls/dp/B003LWOUKK. not had a problem since, think mine were cheaper though.0

Ask either a handyman or ariel installer if they could do the job, a handyman might be more likely to do it but going by previous reply an ariel installer might be willing to do it, they would be more experienced than a handyman up on the roof.0

This is similar to what we bought:

Can you still remember how much did he charge? I seem to have two options, the pigeons are racing ones from next door. Just hope we do not fall out as they are good neighbour's but I have enough of daily cleaning. First option is to ask aerial man to change outdoor brackets to shorter ones as the pigeons likes to rest on the arms and point the aerial towards the roof. Second option is to get one of those pestrol company to professional instal the bird spikes. I guess which ever option it will cost Aerial man will be better option. Last year he replaced the aerial but did not touch the bracket and pole at £159 discounted and when I mentioned about pigeons he said there is nothing much I can do. Thanks0 -
Try a local handyman it really is a quick and simple job to fit them.0

Thanks do you need to buy special glue or could you use cable ties? I could post a pic but do not know how.0 -
Cable ties have held mine on for 8 years now, although some of the plastic spikes have broken my aerial is still pigeon free and, more importantly, the window below it is still pigeon mess free.0

I will go for the cable ties if I decide to get a handyman. How many cable ties per meter. I guess you could get them from wilko. I am getting two quotes to see whether there will be a big difference in price between aerial installer or bird spikes installer. Pl can you tell me whether they can be adjusted to fit length of bracket? The brackets seems to be the perching spot. Also you can get the steel spikes not sure whether they will be better.0
