Why so many wasps already?

In the last 3 weeks weve suddenly had alot of wasps coming in through our windows. We keep them on the catch as we call them most of the time due to having indoor cats. If they are a decent size then it is queen's waking up and looking for a new place to nest.

Have had loads come down from the loft where they were hibernating and wanting me to open windows to let them out. They are stupid though and need moving over to the open window with a bit of paper!
