You're not sharing your internet with everyone in the house. You're sharing your internet with everyone in the street.

No, potentially up to 50 other households. Have a read here:

You might have done a speed test but proler diagnostics is the next step.....as already hinted at in earlier posts!!

The 'problem' could be with your internal wiring, wifi connection, line noise, contention, source or intermediate servers/system busy etc.

Start by looking at your router stats for broadband performance (noise margin leve!s, real connection speed etc.) and post on here. That will split the system between house/line and more djstant (physically/electrically) issues.

Aardvark - have you tried the usual stuff, like carefully removing the faceplate from your master socket and plugging your router (via an adsl filter) into the test socket that lies behind it?

Also I presume there's some way to get a look at what the router's seeing in terms of noise margins; gather that data and post it up to the "BT community" (BT forums) - someone there may be able to give you more specific help: https://community.bt.com/

Yes I am plugged into the back socket (Engineers test socket)

That means your line is degrading speed due to probable line issues .
Contact your ISP >. warning if problem is inside home past master socket and your fault . BT OR charge up to £175.

    Check the router stats.... https://kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

Check the noise margin and attenuation as well as sync. Post them here.
A 2Mbps profile sounds suspicious to me as there is still a fixed 2Mbps profile available and you may have somehow been put on that while the line can support better.

I forget this stuff now as it is ages since I was on ADSL but from memory if you are showing a 2Mbps sync and a high noise margin (well over the normal 6dB) then your sync is being artificially limited by a fixed 2Mbps profile.
