Disputing a poor fencing job

With not much time to research this, any help welcome -
Have had a poor fencing job done & am currently pitching for a refund; that bit is straightforward hopefully. However there was also some damage done to a neighbour's property and to a non-fence bit of my property so in terms of assessing the costs of these elements should I get outside advice from the off or just try & come to a fair agreement between self & firm?
Have put complaint in writing & waiting for them to respond, I don't want to drag things out given that a 3rd party is involved/neighbours, so don't want to take the wrong steps & delay matters or muck up the dispute & make a twit of myself. Trading standards &c from the get go or only if things turn ugly(er)?
Thanks.

Since you haven't given us any information about the dispute, its difficult to advise you.0

Sorry, it's a not fit for purpose job, full stop, so I didn't think any more detail would help when asking about best procedure; as I asked on the basis that we're taking it as read "poor job" is not just my subjective opinion. What further information would have a bearing?0

The most knowledgeable/ experienced regulars do not have any more spare time than you do.
You have complained about what exactly, to whom exactly?
Why would you pay for a fence that is an ineffective boundary marker?
Have you read the articles on Small Claims actions on the main MSE website and the Citizens Advice Bureau website?
Why do you mention Trading Standards?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I'm not suggesting anyone has more spare time than I. If it somehow sounds as though I am drumming my fingers expecting people to jump up & help, far from the case I assure you. I can see how that may have sounded like the tone but not intended at all.
I'm not sure why you mention boundary markers or why you have bolded the parts of the 2nd quote that you have. I have complained about the quality of the job directly (as in 1st post) to the firm in question without response so far.
I have read advice here, on Citizens Advice, Consumer Rights Act, Which &c, re trying to settle disputes and that you should try & settle amicably with the tradesperson (unlikely), then to take it further if needs be. I mention Trading Standards because even if I can sort this between ourselves, there could for example be an argument for reporting them if they are routinely doing poor work rather than just resolve my own issue & let them do it unto others(?) For all sorts of reasons word of mouth personal experience is helpful however much research ones does on one's own, and there are also reasons why researching something in depth may be more difficult for some than others. I was only hoping for a similar experience or two from others; I have to take this further on my own bat tomorrow anyway, so que sera.0
