No issues with BT hub 5
BT Hub 6 had a few until firmware upgrade right at the start of the HH 6 rollout circa 2017 .0 -
Talk Talk. I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole !TadleyBaggie wrote: »Post Office use Talk Talk, or at least they did a few years ago.0 -
I used to have talktalk, they were excellent for perhaps 2 years
Then my speeds dropped, dramatically, and they couldn't explain it or resolve it, blaming it on my line, the same line that worked for 2 years previously
TT are very good if you don't have a problem0 -
Have a look at https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/ see who has their own kit in your exchange , SSE haven't got any in my exchange but I get 50+Mbps constantly, which I know does exceeds your needs but as I said earlier £18 for 11Mbps (if your line can handle it, mine could handle 15Mbps before fibre, even when I was on TalkTalk but they were a pain in the a55)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . My vote would be for Plusnet. Their prices are good and my experience of their support has been excellent; the techies seem genuinely motivated to get you the best service possible.
Also their web-based textual chat support option is really good if (like me) you're very poor at face-to-face or phone-based haggling when a contract is nearing its end date. Prepare your arguments at leisure (e.g. competitor deals you could get if you switch), type them up and copy and paste.0 -
I dumped BT as soon as I could and went to plusnet, same service for half the price
Am with Plusnet, it most certainly isn't the same service. The traffic throttling I experience on Plusnet even paying the £5 a month extra means I often have issues during peak hours with speed despite being on a 72mbit connection which I never had with BT.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Plusnet don't throttle, they prioritise traffic
So peer to peer downloading is way to the bottom of the list during peak hours along with software updates, gaming and streaming shouldn't be affected0 -
Thanks for your replies to date.
At the moment my two best deals seem to be PlusNet and BT each offering pretty much the same deal as regards fibre, 36Mb with anytime calls. PlusNet is coming in at £32 month with a £50 welcome gift. While BT are offering the same plus their virus protection and hotspots, less the £50 bonus, for £35 month
My feeling at the moment is to stay with BT. but that effectively means an extra £104 over the 18 month period (£5.78 month)
Do you think I could squeeze anything extra from BT

Plusnet is BT's budget brand. Doubt they'd want to drop their prices to compete with themselves.0

Price up competitors .
Phone BT Retentions and ask to leave as you have a better deal.0
