Is it a rented property? If so, I suppose the landlord could have had the phone connected?
I just tried that, this is the reply.
Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
The following services are available in your location:
BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
21CN PSTN migration due Jul-Sep 2011
Please select the options on the left for more information about broadband availability at your location.0 -
I would have thought she should be able to sign up with the ISP of her choice then. Don't quite understand the Tiscali response. Try a different ISP - no need to actually sign up, just go far enough to confirm they can provide service.0

It's a housing association that built around 14 houses in a cul-de-sac.
This is what tiscali says....
Tiscali Broadband is not available
A check on your telephone line shows that for technical reasons we cannot provide you with broadband.
Factors like distance from your local exchange and line quality, affect our ability to provide you with a good quality broadband service. When there is any doubt, we prefer not to supply broadband to avoid disappointment.
We are sorry we can't provide you with Tiscali Broadband0 -
Don't understand this at all. Samknows and BT Broadband know about the line but Tiscali and AOL don't. I thought they all accessed the same database.
Not quite sure what to suggest now!
