Lloyds Ballence Transfer Heads Up

Options
Hi All,

Just to let you know if you have Lloyds credit card that's nearly cleared and you want to ballence transfer onto it, call them up they'll offer you a load of rubbish ballence transfer offers (0% for 6months etc) tell them you want to close your account.

You'll be transfered though to their customer retention line and here's where it gets interesting. Tell them you wanted to ballence transfer but the offers were dreadfull so you thought you'd keep your Barclay card instead (they don't need proof you've got one) tell them about the 6% for life offer and they will offer you 5.9% for life on any ballence transfer you do there and then!

Result!

There's a small flaw in your proposal.

If your card is "nearly cleared", any balance you transfer to it will be repaid first, leaving your existing balance accruing circa 15.9%+ APR until you completely clear the card.

Depending on the size of the existing balance, and how lucky you feel(!), perhaps it's best to BT this off first before trying for the deal?
  • True if you've got much on it there's no point, when I said nearly cleared I mean't an amount that you can afford to pay outright befor you BT (I didn't make that clear) still I've got very good deals from Lloyds every time I've threatened to close my account last time they gave me 3% for a year so it's always worth a try with them ;)

I like your style but are you saying they have waived the bt fee.
  • Yep there was no BT fee at all :)
