Excel conditional formatting

How do I format a cell so that


if cell contains negative number then adjacent cell says in debit in red but if the cell has a positive number then adjacent cell says credit?


using cells h210 and i210

    In i210 add the formula
    =IF(H210<0,"debit","credit")
    
    and then use conditional formatting format only cells that contain cell value equal to debit, set font to red.

    You're aware that there is a preset number format which displays negative numbers in red (Format > Cells > Negative Numbers)?

    Apply that to H210 and delete cell. I210?

    Simplifies both sheet and screen.
